Please join us for a lecture by Dr. Tommaso Manfredini, who is a candidate for the position in Translation Studies and Translation Theory: “Refoulement in English: Translation, Migration, and Human Rights at Sea." The lecture is free and open to the public. It will be a hybrid in-person and virtual event. 
 
Tommaso Manfredini (PhD in French Studies, Columbia University, 2020), is a lecturer in the Columbia French Department and Director of Undergraduate Studies at the Columbia Institute for Comparative Literature and Society. Straddling the linguistic fields of French, Italian and Arabic, he works on legal consequences of translation in today’s mass migration movements, and on the linguistic conditions that mediate access to justice for contemporary asylum seekers.
